Old town ambience in D. Alighieri Street
Buje is a town in the northern part of Istria, it's located 5 km from the Croatian-Slovenian border and 10 km from the
sea. Like numerous other Istrian towns, Buje, too, is settled on a hilltop, it's surrounded by slopes on three sides. As a
settlement by the Via Flavia, the place already existed in the ancient Roman era. The old town, as we can see it today,
gained its format during several centuries with a start in the middle ages. The area south of Buje is the center of
Northern Istria's olive oil production and this land is also known for its wines. These merits, the food (including
truffles) served in the excellent taverns around the town - and then very much the ambience of the old town make Buje
a proper trip destination for those who spend their vacation on the Istrian coast.
